This band has a tender place in my heart - and it is a blue space - and it is special - and it is a light in my heart - so I guess their name is pretty appropriate. The fiddle player is Warren Hood - and his Father is Champ Hood who got called up to heaven a little sooner than we would like to have seen him go - but thank God and thank Champ and thank his Mother Elizabeth for creating Warren and sharing him with us.
Warren is going to music school at Berkley in Boston. This is his new band that he formed at school and brought back with him to Texas for summer break. I saw them perform at Gruene Hall - sat with his Mom and his little brother - who was very helpful with the video camera I must say! Afterwards, I told Warren, "I didn't think you could get any better than you were when you left - but I was wrong - cause I can see how you've grown musically! They must be teaching you something good at that school!".
If you ever met his Dad or heard his Dad play, then you know what a sweet spirit that man was and his son is just as sweet. We are so blessed to have Warren and his music in our lives! Warren's band mates are John Graney on mandolin, Andrew Webster on guitar, Jared Engel on upright bass, and all the boys sing.
This is a 4 song sampler and I bought my copy for only $5 - now that is a blue light special in the sense that Kmart coined the term!
